Charcroft Celebrates 50 years
Paul Newman started this electronic components business in 1974 from his home, Charcroft House, in Essex, UK. He saw the potential of electronics and 50 years later, Charcroft is now an established privately-owned specialist manufacturer and distributor offering a wide range of passive and electromechanical components as well as power supplies and high-temperature semiconductors.
The company has been servicing customers for decades on long-term programs, from initial design to end-of-life, with additional focused support during periods of allocation or obsolescence.
Charcroft also operates a VPG approved Precision Centre, holding a large stock of foil resistors for rapid supply. Foil resistors have many benefits for audio applications—offering very low-noise and good pulse handling capability. This is useful in small-signal conditioning applications and larger devices provide solutions for high-power applications such as amplifier output stage and loudspeaker crossover applications.
After acquisition of a specialist Silver-Mica capacitor manufacturer, Charcroft now offers a range of Audio-Mica capacitors utilizing pure-silver throughout the signal-path—ensuring signal clarity is maintained.
In November 2020 Charcroft acquired ClarityCap and has since launched the Purity range, building upon years of research and experience in manufacturing audio grade capacitors.
Looking toward the future, we continue to invest for growth and look to increase our portfolio of products for high-end audio.
